What COLOR Eye Makeup should I wear?

 

Color is magical.  It will never cease to amaze me what putting the RIGHT color on someone’s face does for them – it brings out their inner beauty and makes them shine!  Well, WE all need that.  Here is how YOU can bring out your inner beauty just by choosing the correct eye makeup shades to wear:

TIP: Look at the color wheel – pick YOUR eye shade and then look at the colors opposite them on the wheel – these are Complementary Shades.   They’ll look the best on you!! 

HERE is a great website with printable color wheels that you can go peruse if you aren’t familiar with the color wheel.

Very simply to make your eyes POP (use the Complementary Shades):

For Blue Eyes – choose brown, orange shades

For Green Eyes – choose pink or purple shades

For Brown eyes – choose blue or purple shades

 

You can also choose to use Related Shades.  These are those CLOSEST on the color wheel to your eye color and will accent the color of your eyes.

For Blue Eyes – add in blues or purple shadesshadowsense for brown eyes, shadowsense for green eyes, shadowsense for blue eyes

For Green Eyes – add in greens

For Brown Eyes – all shades of brown

Each Year Pantone Color Institute presents it’s color of the year.

For 2018 it was Ultra Violet

Often dubbed the color of “connection” it is commonly used in meditation spaces.   This deep purple is reminiscent of Prince’s signature color.  Throughout history this color has been used as a representation of royalty and political power.   It has already made its way into home decor, nail design and of course, fashion.    The biggest question is how to will include this color in YOUR world in 2018.

How to add Pantone Color of the Year into your makeup routine:

#1 LIPS

The Choice of Positivity

I have an aversion to mornings.  For reals, I sincerely wish they didn’t exist.  I truly wonder why we can’t just wake up at 10am and start the day with brunch?

Even at age 40, mornings are still difficult for me.    I do have good days – but most involve my alarm (or a child) waking me up and ME wanting to roll over and close my eyes for “just a few more minutes”.  When I do finally pry my eyes open – I still don’t really want to move.  It takes me awhile to get up and at ’em! (AKA get out of bed).  However, I have gone thru spaces in my life when I have been up and going by 5 or 6am and I have to say, that I am consistently AMAZED what I can get done by 9am on these early morning days.  Even so, I am POSITIVE that I will never love mornings.  (although I do LOVE what I accomplish).  I may learn to tolerate them – but there WILL be no love.

I have always believed that life is what you make it.   What you put into it – you get back, and therefore, I put in 110% most of the time.  Deep down, due to this belief – I know it’ll come around when I need it.  AND IT DOES.  Most of the time.

But I’m getting ahead of myself . . . I want to take you back to my younger years for a minute.  You see, there was this girl . . . whom I looked up to and admired (there were many – but this one was different.)  Over time we became really close friends and spent lots of time together.   She was admired by many – mostly due to her kindness, her sincere love of those around her – no matter who they were (and in HIGH SCHOOL this is BIGGGGG!), but it was more than that.  She was . . . HAPPY.  Like truly, non-teenager like, HAPPY.   ALL the time.  This friend didn’t let little things get to her, she always assumed the best in everyone and tried to find ways to make them happy.  She included those that others would purposely not invite or include and did it all with a smile on her face.

I always longed to be like this friend – but let’s be honest – I’m human and I’m a woman so there’s that.   Not that I was unhappy or a sad child.  I had a wonderful childhood.   But she inspired me and I began to set goals so that “little things” began to bother me less and less, I would try (sometimes with teeth clenched) to assume the best in others and little by little – I began to “realign” my reality with what I wanted it to be.

My point?

Positivity isn’t a trait that most are born with.

It’s made.  Often in the trenches.  It begins as a choice and over time, becomes a habit.  We CHOOSE to react and respond to the things life throws in our path.  We can CHOOSE to “assume the best” in each person and situation we come across;  OR we can choose to be annoyed & frustrated about all the little things.  Ultimately – it is a CHOICE.  It is OUR choice.  We CHOOSE our own reality.

So, what IS positivity?  The google dictionary says :

the practice of being or tendency to be positive or optimistic in attitude.

I love this definition.  Esp. that it includes the word practice.  It isn’t a way of being.  It is a practice – something we attempt (or choose) to do repeatedly and as we all know, practice makes perfect (eventually).  Over time this “practice” becomes a part of who we are.  It even gets to a point where we no longer have to entice ourselves to make the “choice” to choose positivity.  THIS is the goal – for it to become so ingrained in who we are – we no longer have to think about it.  We no longer are even concious that we are “choosing” it.  It just is . . .

 

Looking back on this friend from my youth – the two things I am MOST grateful to her for – is that she taught me by example to assume the best in everyone I meet and she taught me to CHOOSE to be happy.

Remember my morning aversion?  I still WANT to lay in bed every morning and beg for “just a few more minutes”!  But on the days I CHOOSE to get up (quicker than normal), possibly squeeze in some exercise and put a smile on my face – I am always amazed at HOW much better my days are.  It’s like I am mentally saying, “Bring it world, I got this!”  Life IS what you make it.  You too – can begin to realign YOUR reality with what YOU want it to be.  So – CHOOSE!!

Choose to assume the best in others.

Choose to not let the little things get to you.

Choose to get out of bed and PUT a smile on your face.

Most of all, CHOOSE to be happy.

When I go out in public wearing my “stripes” of LipSense colors on my hand – I often meet people who ask what it is or if I was just picking out lipstick.  They are always “WOWed” when I rub my hand and say that I sell it – it’s Lipstick that doesn’t come off.  I LOVE this part of my job.  Just by being out doing my everyday routine – I am constantly stopped by people.  It’s intentional – but even a year and a half into this business – I still am startled when they stop me to ask. (Startled because I forgot I even had them on.)  But their next question almost always is, “What’s in it?”.  Like they are afraid it’s made of paint thinner or something really bad for you.  So, because I know many people wonder . . . I’m going to tell you a little about the ingredients in LipSense.

Key LipSense Ingredients and benefits:

  • Denatured Alcoho l(SD40 Alchohol which is cosmetic grade) – used as a delivery system for the color.  There is no preservative in LipSense.  It is self-preserved.  This liquid delivery system naturally kills germs and bacteria.   • Titanium Dioxide: an inert earth mineral used as a thickening ingredient and sunscreen in cosmetics.  It protects skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered to have no risk of skin irritation.

5 Things to Know about Cream Blush and HOW to apply

 

Even though most of us grew up using powdered blush – cream blush is generally regarded as the most-natural looking when used.  Cream blush actually used to scare me  – the colors look SOOOOO bright – but once I actually broke down and tried it – there is NO going back, my friends.   So, here are some things I have learned about cream blush.  Give it a try – you will be pleasantly surprized!!!!

6 Things to Know about BlushSense

  1. The texture of cream blush MELTS into the skin beautifully.  When using powdered blush – the powder sits right on top of the skin – thus why it doesn’t last as long. Cream blush is hands down the best way to get the DEWY, natural look that is so trendy right now.
  2.   3. Application Techniques – prior to using cream blush – I had only applied blush with a brush – which you can still do – but my favorite by far – is taking the TINIEST DOT of blush and using my fingers to blend it into my cheeks.  Masterful, I tell you!!
  4. Long-Lasting – Cream blush definitely lasts longer than powder – no question.  However, if you want to set it for EVEN longer wear or an extra long day – or just because . . . Lightly dust apple of your cheeks with Silver Rose Powder AFTER blush application.  (My favorite part of the Silver Rose Powder is that there is just the slightest hint of shimmer to it and it adds extra glow to you face!  TOTAL WINNER!)
  5. Can also be used in cosplay/theaterBlushsense Colors, BlushSense by SeneGence makeup.  Last year I used the cherry blushsense for the perfect color for Rafiki’s face in my daughter’s school’s version of Lion King, JR.   It’s budge-proof and smudge-proof just like our other products.  This factor alone made makeup “touchups” non-existent!!!  So amazing to have downtime back stage & during intermission –  instead of “fixing” all the facial mess-ups!!
  6. It doesn’t crease or get stuck in wrinkles – – (Need I say more?)

HOW TO APPLY BlushSense by SeneGence:

  1. Squirt out the TINIEST dot on your pointer finger.   Tap your two pointer fingers together – Now you have some ready for EACH cheek.
  2. Apply teeny dot to area just above apples of cheek but not as high as temples and then blend upward toward temples & cheekbones.  May use fingers or brush to apply.   Totally just preference.
  3. Need more color?  Add more.  You always want to start with a little & layer it to your desired intensity.
  4. Brush with Silver Rose Powder AFTER application for even longer wear time.
FUN TIP:  Make your own cream blush by mixing some white concealer with your LipSense color of the day!  Then apply with your fingers or a brush to bring perfect symmetry to your look.

Knowing HOW to remove LipSense is almost as important as correct application.  There are different ways that will work – but using Oops is definitely the BEST way!  SeneGence’s Oops Remover breaks down the color technology that helps LipSense to bind to your lips AND it leaves your lips moisturized, supple and soft!!  ALL of the *alternate* ways to remove LipSense found on Pinterest or the World Wide Web – dry out your lips and thus, prolong your exfoliation period!  JUST — USE OOPS; it’s not expensive, one tube will last a long time and once you know how to use it the RIGHT way – you’ll love the results.    A new & better version of Oops was released in 2017 – so if it’s been a while since you tried it . . . it might be time.  Follow along and I’ll show you how to use it!

Grab a wet washclosh and rub it across your lips. This will remove any remaining gloss off your lips. Next step is to grab your Oops Remover and apply GENEROUSLY to your lips. At this point you may rub your lips together if you want – but it’s not necessary. Allow the Oops to remain on your lips for 20-30 seconds. (This is KEY! The Oops breaks down the color.) Often, I’ll wash my face while it sits on my lips – or change into my pajamas. Once it has sat for the full 20-30 seconds – wipe with the wet washcloth again.  Look at all the amazing THINGS that Oops Remover does for your lips!

REPETITION, REPETITION, REPETITION

Most often this will remove MOST of your LipColor – esp. if you’ve had the color on all day or if its a lighter color. However, it’s applied in layers and often you also must take it off in layers. So, if there are still remnants on your lips – REPEAT!!! When I wear beautiful, bold reds – I find I have to repeat 2-3 times to get it all off. Just make sure you are giving yourself the full 20-30 seconds each time to break down the color.

Once the color is fully removed, apply Moisturizing Lip Balm, Glossy Gloss or Lip Volumizer.
