Top 10 Tips for NEW SeneGence/LipSense Distributors

I signed up – NOW WHAT??? Ready for some SeneGence Distributor Tips?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  You’ve just made the BEST decision of your life!!!

There are sooooo many things that come into your head when you start a new business.

Here are my TOP 10 Tips for New SeneGence/LipSense Distributors:

Think of it as a SeneGence New Distributor Checklist.

1.  Order A Kit!!  The sooner you have product in your hands – the sooner you can make $!!  Invest in yourself and in your business.  Since there is SUCH a savings in the kit – purchase the one that is MOST financially appropriate for you right now – but KNOW – that we are women and we are always more inclined to purchase more if the item is there in front of us.

2.  Set a Date for your 1st Launch Party with your Sponsor.  THIS date SHOULD be within 14 days of signing up. (THIS IS KEY – DON’T SKIP THIS PART!) If your Sponsor is local – then an in-home party is ideal.  If not, then set up a Facebook party and show off all this company has to offer to your friends near and far.

*Whether you sign up for the discount or to sell – EVERYONE should have a Launch Party.   Your sponsor can bring all the testers – and you’ll have product on hand from your Kit Order to fill orders and immediately start making money$!

Not all your friends will be able to make this 1st Launch party.  That’s okay.  It’s important you have a second date (LAUNCH) set up BEFORE you start inviting friends – THEN you can say – “you can’t make it, Ok – what about this date?  Will that work for you.”  Then you are setting yourself up right away for success.

3.  Decide how YOU will plan to market your business –

Social Media – What social media platforms are you already on – using everyday?  Pick one you are comfortable with and research and learn and figure out HOW to sell on that channel. Don’t set up a FB group just because that’s what your upline did.  DO what works for you. Instagram, SnapChat, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook can ALL be used to sell. Start with one and learn it so well that you can teach a course on it. If you are looking for a KICK-BUTT way to organize your postings – check out this printable Social Media Content Planner – it is THE BOMB.COM!!! It is super cheap and you can print as many or as few as you want. I print out an entire year’s worth and then BIND them together and keep it all in one place!!

In Person – Do all your neighbors know that you sell – plan a neighborhood open house and pass out fliers, post it on your neighborhood social media groups, etc.  Attend your local Chamber’s meetings.  Getting involved opens doors to other people’s warm market – and your cold market starts to melt.

4.  Stripes – – wear your stripes EVERYDAY!!!! If you only have one color – until your kit arrives – that’s ok.  But wear it with pride.   What are stripes? They are simply a swatch of a lipcolor on your hand. I usually use 3 colors and do 3 layers on each. Don’t forget to gloss them!! People will stop and ask you if you were “trying on makeup”.  You DO have to know what to say, ready?

“No, it’s SeneGence. I sell it.  It’s long lasting makeup and lipstick that lasts all day.  Have you tried it?”

(now as you are saying this – you rub your hand and SHOW that it doesn’t rub, smudge or transfer).

The most common response is “WOW”.   Thus, THIS is WOWing.  Showing off what you already love.   KEY is to get their information and set a time to followup or meetup and “Play makeup”.

5.  Make a list of 10 friends/family that you know who LOVE makeup – who on that list would enjoy making a little extra $, or just LOVES makeup and wants it all – call them right now (by yourself or with your sponsor)- ask them to do this with you . . . it is ALWAYS more fun with someone you love and it’s WAY more fun to learn together.  Here is an example of what I send when someone says they are interested in learning more.  Less is always better.

If they ask – Well, how do you make money$?  I like to share THIS one.

And JUST like that – you are 1/2 way thru your SeneGence New Distributor Checklist. Only 5 more to go . . .

6.  How will you take payment? –  There are multiple ways!  Paypal, Venmo, and of course, my favorite – SQUARE.  If you don’t currently have square it’s great because you can accept cash or card.  Talk to your upline and make sure to grab their Square set up link  . . . or HERE is mine.  By using a set up link, you get $1,000 of FREE processing and so does the person who’s link you use.   It’s a great deal!!

7.  Make an Announcement – share on whatever social media platform you use or have decided to use for your business that YOU are now a SeneGence/LipSense distributor and you’d LOVE to have your family & friends shop with you.  (I mean, if they don’t know you are selling – they won’t know to shop with you). If you aren’t into social media – send an email or a text and show YOUR excitement in it.

8. Explore the Back Office  – there is SOOOOO much there – explore and start to figure out where things are.  Watch webinars, look thru the provided trainings . . . you’ll learn so much that will help you in the long run.  It really is the more you know . . . (I did NOT just sing that in my head.)

9.  What is your WHY – Knowing your WHY is essential – it will keep you motivated when nothing else will.  Grab your FREE Printable “Find My Why” just by joining my email list HERE.   This worksheet will help you quickly identify your WHY.  Trust me – you need to know what it is and it’s WAY more than $.

10. Make a plan to HIT YOUR FASTSTARTS – Get ALL the FREE stuff!!  Sit down with your sponsor and figure out HOW you can make it happen – how often do you need to host a party and then get ON the phone and book those parties.

How do I Choose a Direct Sales Sponsor?

HOW do I choose a Sponsor?

You have discovered the “PERFECT” direct sales company for you . . . you are passionate about the product(s) and cannot wait to share them with your friends and family – BUT you have a choice to make –  You know mulitiple friends/family members who are distributors with this company.  HOW do you choose the best sponsor for YOU!!!  Do you immediately go with family – because, duh they’re blood.  Do you choose a friend that would DISOWN you if you sign with someone else?  Must it be the FIRST person who introduced it to you?  HOW DO YOU CHOOSE? Everyone WANTS to enter thru the RED door – but how do you make sure red is the best fit for you?

There is definitely NOT one right way.  However, there are most certainly some things you should look at prior to making your decision – as it WILL make a difference in your overall experience with your soon to be company.   Picking the right sponsor can make or break your experience.

  •  Personality/Vibe – – Take a deep look at the personality/vibe your potential Sponsor has.  Do you MESH with them?  Are they easy to get along with?  You know that saying,
  •                                         “YOUR VIBE ATTRACTS YOUR TRIBE”
  • YEP!  It’s true.  It’s helpful if it’s an easy relationship.   If you are always butting heads – even familial blood won’t make the situation better. Are they someone you WANT to spend time with?  If you are ALL in with your company – you’ll often have the opportunity to travel to trainings & events.   If they aren’t someone you want to emulate and become like – – it will probably be beneficial to sign with someone else.
  • Training – – What sort of trainings does your Sponsor offer?  Will she train you via phone calls, zoom calls, live meetings?  Will it matter if she is long-distance or near by?  Does she hold team meetings?  How often?  What is the benefit of attending? (what is taught) Training is more important than I can emphasize.  This might seriously be more important than the others. Good training enables you to know the products you offer, HOW to offer them and ways to become better at your business.
  • Location – – Is she local to you?  If she does lots of training via FB group or website – this may not matter.  (personal preference) If she isn’t local – does she know of a local distributor with whom you could connect for meetings – so you still get some local support?
  • Support – – What sort of support does she offer to her downline?  Does she have specific business hours?  Is she a night owl or an early morning person?  Will she care if you call with questions – or is email or text better?
  • Experience – – How long has SHE been with the company?  Time doesn’t necessarily matter – you can assess your friend/family member.  YOU know if they are a self-starter, if they read everything they can get their hands on, if they are a DOER.  You’ll be able to tell if they are in this for REAL.  Follow your gut.  Sometimes an ‘I JUST SIGNED UP’ distributor is the best to sign with and sometimes . . . not so good.  Like everything else – make the decision based on what you know about them as a person and who they are.

Long story short – make an educated decision.  Sit down and list the pros and cons.  Don’t let others’ situations or pressure make the decision for you.  Ultimately – it should be the BEST decision for you.  If there is too much pressure one way or the other – maybe it’s best to find someone else to sign up with.  You can do this by going directly to the website and searching for distributors close to you or using a site like THIS.  You are not obligated to do ANYTHING specific.  This is your life decision.  It’s your RED door.  It will greatly impact your future with your “PERFECT” company – so make sure you spend a few minutes and make sure it is the best one for YOU!

What is a Styled Shoot?

In short – a styled shoot occurs when creatives and vendors come together to produce beautiful pictures showcasing an event, venue, items and overall – their individual chosen “craft”.

The example we are going to use today is from a Styled Shoot I participated in – in Scottsdale, AZ

There are MANY different people involved in making a Styled Shoot happen:

ORGANIZER : Every Styled Shoot has an organizer or 2 !!  The organizer pulls together individuals, creatives and vendors from their own network and creates a unique opportunity for them to work together and become associated with each other!  Then come away with photos they can all share and blast across social media – which then enables exposure to multiple individual’s networks.

Dana & Jo are Wedding Photographers – you can find them HERE @ Buchanan Photography.

They are VERY resourceful and absolutely amazing photographers as you can see from these pictures. Make sure you book early as their dates fill fast.  

PHOTOGRAPHER : Our Organizer was also our photographer – so this was EASY!

VENUE : The place where you gather to pull together the styled shoot can be as simple as a backyard or as frivolous as a very expensive Wedding Venue.  Often, for a styled shoot, the venue fee may be waived esp if the photographer is willing to provide some un-watermarked pictures for the venue to use.  However, if this is the case, expect for the date/time to be somewhat last minute – most likely based on when they have a cancellation.

We were blessed to use The Clayton House as our venue for this styled shoot.  We were also blessed to utilize The Airstream Photo Booth AZ which is an incredible mobile photo booth unlike any other. The Photo Booth can fit up to 14 people INSIDE it – which makes for some really fun wedding party pics.

STYLIST : Your Stylist can make or break the shoot – they help pull the wardrobe of all those involved together to look cohesive and GOOD!  They add little pops of color and know what color to use the most and where.  Stylists are BORN with this innate knowledge of what goes well together.  They have a knack for making the right things pop and others fade into the background.  A GOOD shoot should NOT be without one.

Now What?

MAKEUP ARTIST : A Makeup Artist is essential for ANY styled shoot.  No matter HOW gorgeous your models are – having a makeup artist on hand for touch-ups is KEY!  Makeup has great power and with the right makeup artist – your models will look EVEN more amazing!!

For our event – NONE of the creatives/vendors were paid.  I was blessed to be the makeup artist for this event and I had a BLAST getting these gorgeous models ready for this styled shoot. We went  with  soft  eyes,  lips  and  an  overall  barely-there  makeup  look.

HAIR : For styled shoots, a hairstylist isn’t a necessity – but their insight is always soooo valuable – I highly encourage you to seek one out!  Hairstylists see the little things that’ll pull the entire group/shoot all together.

All the girls arrived with hair beautifully done – and I watched in amazement as our talented Hairstylist added little touches here and there that MADE our shoot!  They truly were the perfect additions.  @beautybybobby – you were amazing!!!  A braid here – a bobby pin there . . .

VIDEOGRAPHER : This is an extra – but in our day/age of everything video – it’s a wonderful thing to include if you can.  VIDEO is life, right?

ATTENTION TO DETAILS : Depending on the type of shoot – the details you’ll need to cover will vary.  Our particular shoot was a wedding styled shoot – so our details will surround that.

FLOWERS: A Wedding Bouquet, a Boutineer for the groom and flowers throughout the venue are ESSENTIAL for a wedding styled shoot.

Our florist chose to use succulents in the wedding bouquet and it was THE PERFECT touch.  @azflorations was great to work with & added little floral touches throughout the Airstream.  The flowers are the ONLY thing on our shoot that were paid for – all the time was donated.

FOOD : Every Event utilizes food – using it in a styled shoot helps the shoot seem MORE realistic.  Food can be beautiful and beautiful food is enticing – so do not forget to add this element into your styled shoot.

Not Your Mommas Apples was the food vendor utilized for this styled shoot.  @yo.apples  Who knew that Caramel Apples could be so elegant.  PERFECT for every wedding.  I mean all you have to do is EYE this set up and you KNOW you want one . . . The photographers even had the wedding party open a bottle of bubbly.  SO much fun to shoot.

MODELS : No Styled Shoot would work without models willing to dress up & play their part!  I would highly encourage you to “BOOK” a few extra models for your event – as we did have a few that were sick as well as had other things come up that prevented them from attending.  It’s always better to have too many than too few!!

WHY do people do Styled Shoots?

There are multiple reasons why vendors and creatives might choose to participate.

  1. Pad their Portfolio – No matter your specialty, it’s always great to have examples of your work to show potential clients.
  2. Exposure – plain and simple – when pictures of your “craft” are shared by multiple people ALL over the web – the exposure is GREAT.  Usually this exposure gets leads and customers for all involved in the styled shoot.
  3. Connections – Networking is a HUGE part of any business.  When a customer is asking for a photographer you love, or a florist you enjoy working with – THESE type of events allow for great networking and help you to see who YOU’d choose to have on hand to work with at events.

The MOST Important Question is WHEN are YOU going to do one?

Unforgettable, Motivating Team Meetings

Looking for Direct Sales Team Meeting Ideas?

As a Direct Seller, whether your upline is close or far away often determines your ability to ATTEND local meetings. Local Team Meetings can make or break your business.  MY personal uplines were all far away – and I couldn’t find anyone holding meetings close to me – so, I started my own. At first they were small – but they have grown and typically we attract quite a crowd. The beautiful thing is – that TEAM meetings can be effective whether the group is just 2, 6, 12 or 50 . . . The idea is to support and inspire each other and create an environment where all are welcomed.  Overall – direct sales team meeting ideas may vary – but the important thing is to get together and learn from each other.

So, how do you get started?  First, You need an outline to follow or base your meetings FLOW on.  You can consult your companies back office (almost all of them have one) , talk with others who are hosting meetings or use the direct sales team meeting ideas I have provided here to get started.  Remember that the perfect meeting is a work in progress – you’ll probably constantly be modifying whatever outline you start with.  No matter what you start with – make it yours.  Share your passion and knowledge with those who attend.   Unforgettable, Motivating Team Meetings move those who attend to do GREAT things.

First of all -Select A Name – you need a name that will “TIE” you all together.  It can be a Team Name, or something fun – it’s totally up to you.   We chose to call our Team Meetings “Chalk Talk”.  It was fun and a little different than normal – plus, it’s TOTALLY me!!  Find something that rings true of who YOU are!  Use Google – looks up different meanings of the word meeting or team and use a thesaurus to find one you really like!!

Overall Meetings Outline

  1. Welcome . . . Go around & everyone say their name and a fun “intro” question. This question should change at each meeting.  You can use something from pop-culture or something business related – but the idea is to break the ice right away and get them to get comfortable with each other.  EX – What new product do you think they’ll introduce at the corporate event this month?, Do you wake up by an alarm clock or a phone going off?, sticky notes or pad of paper . . . make it fun.
  2. Recognition . . . In our meetings, since ALL are not on my team – we expect that each comes WITH their numbers from the previous month.  (We recognize TOP PV & # of distributors signed/qualified)
  3. ON-TIME Drawing  – If you want people to be on time – it’s great to reinforce it by something like this.  They LOVE that they can win just by being there!!
  4. Recite TEAM Motto – There is soooo much power in positive thinking.  Find something you are passionate about and declare that your motto.  We even STAND when we say ours.
  5. Review Last Month’s Challenge – What was it?  How did you do?
  6. Product Highlight – This is something we assign prior to the meeting.  We assign a product and ask them to come to the meeting prepared to “teach us” all about the product and unique ways to use it.  This requires them to look up the product knowledge pages from corporate and watch any videos they can find either from webinars or youtube about it.
  7. Social Media Tip  – great assignment – share a new one you discovered this month.
  8. Booking/Recruiting Conversation – For this, we call up two from the audience and give them a scenario – One plays friend, one plays distributor and tries to get them to “book” a demo/party.  Then, they switch.  We give the same two a second scenario (usually recruiting) and the other plays distributor and tries to interest them in the opportunity.   (these are soooooo valuable – because it is helpful to see the WORDS others use when in these situations!)
  9. Training Topic of the Night (15 min) typically the leaders take turns shouldering this responsibility.
  10. Corporate Monthly Theme or Mini Training Topic (5 min) – This is given out as an assignment to a team member or growing leader to give a 5 minute tip about a specific topic.  They are encouraged to watch a webinar or FB LIVE on the subject and share some tips with the group.
  11.  Upcoming Holiday – This is also given out as an assignment although it’s more of a discussion leader.  Things discussed . . . How to market to your customers, how to use FB LIVES, YouTube, show different ways to use product.  *This is also a great time to discuss the companies stance on discounts.
  12. Upcoming Corporate Event – Focus of it and WHY they should be there!!
  13. Upcoming Dates – review next month’s meeting and any upcoming training dates.
  14. Challenge – Leave them with a challenge for next month – I like to base them off of the Training Topic.

8 Reasons you DO NOT want to miss SeneGence SEMINAR!!

SeneGence, International bases their year around this unique Annual Event – currently held for the USA in Tulsa, Oklahoma each April. Their Seminar Year starts April 1 and ends the following year on March 31st. Seminar is THE event of the year for SeneGence, International. SeneGence Distributors gather from all over to attend this incredible event. (This year there will be a SeneGence Seminar held in USA, Austrailia and in Canada). Some might say it is similar to other Direct Sales’ Yearly Convention – but it is SOOO much more. Here are just a few of the reasons you’ll want to make sure to attend SEMINAR:

1. Look like a Princess – SeneGence Ranks are labeled fun things like Maiden, Royal, Lady, Crown Princess. All proper and pure FUN names for sure! I mean, WHO doesn’t want to be referred to as a Princess, right? So of course, at THIS event – ALL ranks wear colored sashes with their title written on it and Crown Princesses and above wear crowns. FOR REALS – to the entire event! There is also one night where you get to dress up in a formal dress and be inspired by some of the TOP leaders in our company.

2. Dominion Party – Who doesn’t love to attend a good party?  Each Crown Princess has their own “dominion” and as such they get to recognize top performers/achievers in their dominion at a party just for them! Often this event features a fun activity as well – where you can get to know your upline and create friendships that will last forever! Putting names with faces is invaluable.

3. New Products – At EACH corporate event (4 times per year) – NEW products are announced! Often there are Limited Edition products (such as trendy or seasonal lip colors) but at SEMINAR is where the BULK of them are introduced!! PLUS, you get to be among the first who hear/learn about them which is AMAZING!!!! At Seminar, a new Beauty Book (SeneGence’s catalog) is released as well as a magazine highlighting the leaders who rocked it in the company that year.

4. MakeSense Foundation Fundraiser – This is our founder’s foundation for women and children in need. Portions of each bottle of MakeSense Foundation that are sold go to this as well as 100% of all our SeneCouture products. This event is always impactful – – it is neat to see all those who have been helped through this amazing program.

5.  Life-Changing Training – Breakout sessions taught by the Top-Sellers/Achievers address current trends/needs and how to reach your goals. They will inspire you/motivate you and give you a “plan” to get out of your own way and GET IT DONE!!! The breakout sessions are my favorite! I learn soooo much from our amazing SeneSisters!! There is also always a Featured Guest Speaker (sometimes 2) who get time to teach and train us. IT IS INVALUABLE!!

6. Networking & SeneSisterhood – This is one of the most important aspects.  EVERYWHERE you go at this event you are networking. Be sure to bring your business cards or have a digital version available to share. Swap names – share stories – you’ll be amazed at how these “connections” bless you later. Don’t just mingle with those from your dominion – reach out to all and establish connections all over the country. The SeneSisterhood is REAL!

7. Product Knowledge – As new products are released, a great amount of product knowledge is shared about them. Take advantage of this and delve into the products and how/why they work.

8. Get the SENE -Vibe – Seeing and hearing from our founder, Joni Rogers-Kante and other members of the sales team will just solidify that this opportunity is one you won’t soon forget or walk away from. They will squash any doubts or concerns you have and you will SEE and feel the concept of SeneSisterhood like never before.

You Lead – I follow : Are you a Leader or a Boss?

I’ve been spending a lot of time researching WHAT it is that makes a good leader and why some are better than others.  I would imagine that ultimately their intentions are all the same.  They all have an ultimate goal towards which they are working.

While driving kids to/from activities this last week I had a moment of clarity.   My kids were watching He-Man at the time – thus, the analogy.

Leader Analogy:

You could use ANY characters you want (Dumbledore & Voldemort, Luke Skywalker & Darth Vader for example) to emphasize the point – but I’ll stick with He-Man for this exercise.

It occurred to me that Skeletor WAS a leader.  It hadn’t thought about it before but He had followers and people that did his biding.  To them – he was their leader.  His objective (though not admirable) – was to take over Castle Greyskull and defeat He-Man.  For some reason – his followers were loyal to him.  Although it definitely wasn’t because he was kind to them.  In fact, most often he is rude, degrading and even “evil” toward his own followers.  Perhaps they joined with Skeletor because they had felt “wronged” by He-Man, or maybe they just wanted to be a part of something and working for Skeletor satisfied that.  Maybe Skeletor had blackmailed them or put a curse on them or their family members.  The reason truly doesn’t matter – but sometimes it helps us to look at possibilities so our judgement of others isn’t so harsh.  In fact, many of us may look and say – WHAT were they thinking!! WHY would they team up with Skeletor!  WHY are they following him?

He-Man was also a leader.  He led with kindness – always in search of the RIGHT thing to do.  His objective was to keep balance in the Universe.   Truth, fairness and courtesy were also things he “fought” for.  He took time to build up those around him.  He found ways to complement and empower them.   He led them to each fight – fighting right alongside them.  This made him an incomparable leader.  He had no need to force his followers to do anything.  They longed to be like him and to help save the universe.

Choices

In our lives today – lines are blurred.  Where we can look at many fictional examples and immediately tell which is a “good” leader and a “bad” leader – Choosing who to follow today is not that easy.  The GREY area is vast and encompassing.  Today, many of our choices often mirror the “Good, Better and Best” Mentality.  There is good in all of us, even Skeletor, even if its very deep down.

A great example would be Hitler.  As a Junior in College, I was able to watch live footage of Hitler speaking.  I sat in the audience knowing full well – who he had become and what he had done.  However, as I sat and listened – it made me sick to my stomach to realize that if I had heard him speak – I, too would have been inclined to follow him.

We have to make choices that align us with those (leaders) that are choosing the BEST – not just the good.  We rally toward leaders who make us want to be better and inspire us to reach beyond our comfort zones.  Those who enforce or increase our workload to make themselves feel important quickly loose our support and loyalty.

Conclusion

I guess I’d just not considered that the “bad” guys were leaders.  They certainly weren’t leaders that I wanted to follow or become like.  In all truth, I wouldn’t use the word leader in reference to them at all.  I would instead use the word boss. He-Man – Leader.   Skeletor – Boss.  Darth Vader – Boss.  Luke Skywalker – Leader.

LEADER

  • Build & Empower Others
  • Led the way – working WITH his followers
  • Gives Credit where credit is dueman puppet, leader or boss, leader or follower
  • Highly Respected by all
  • makes decisions based on compassion
  • Honest – almost to a fault

BOSS

  • Tells others what to do.
  • Often rude, degrading, unkind
  • must be done HIS way
  • Takes credit for everything!
  • Most are AFRAID of him.
  • It’s all about him – totally impersonal toward others.
  • Okay with fudging the lines – even deceitful

In the end – it all comes down to what YOU long to be.  Do you want to be known as a leader or as a boss?  Wherever you are on the spectrum right now – there is ALWAYS room for improvement.  Start with something small.  You can do anything you set your mind to.  BE A LEADER . . . you’ll never believe what’ll happen in your life when you make this one decision.
