Fall/Winter 2018 Pantone Color Trends
What is Pantone, you may ask? A system for matching colors – used in specifying printing inks – so the color is exact. (per the Google dictionary) Basically, the team at Pantone puts out a Seasonal Color Trend list PRIOR to NY Fashion week each season – highlighting the colors that will be shown and used by designers. We can use this list to add accessories and items of color to our wardrobe that are ON TREND with what is in style.
10 Seasonal Fall/Winter Color Trends:
I created these fun collages so you can more easily and quickly locate the designated color. They are bright and bold and highlight the tone presented by Pantone. They’ll make staying ON TREND much easier.
TIP: Save them to your phone and consult them when out shopping!
This year, Pantone picked 10 Seasonal Colors – and they added 5 Classic Colors which they said should be a staple in any wardrobe – in any season.
Each year in December they even designate a COLOR OF THE YEAR – that transcends all seasons. In 2018 the color is Ultra Violet! To learn even more about this and some tips to apply it to your own makeup application go HERE.
I think my favorite ones that aren’t typical Fall Colors are Quetzal Green – such a gorgeous teal color and Nebulas Blue – the bright blue color. When I think of fall I typically think of oranges, reds, yellows, browns – so the Russet Orange, Martini Olive, Ceylon Yellow, Vailiant Poppy and even Red Pear go right along with Fall to me. But the teal and bright blue are super fun additions Also the Limelight – that will definitely have to be used as an accent for me – but SUCH an unusual Fall color!
I’m also still SUPER excited that there are still 2 Purples in the mix. AND the Ultra Violet is soooo gorgeous!!! Seriously – between Violet Volt and Lilac Lacquer – I promise we have the PERFECT purple lipstick for you!!! (Did I mention that purple was my MOST favorite color as a child!) If these lipsticks seem like they are a little too much for you – I have more options so you can still feel like you are embracing your inner Ultra Violet! Purple Reign, Lexie Beary, Violette
Classic Colors Palatte that transcend the seasons:
Which one of these do you think is your MOST Classic Color? For me – I’d say Sargasso Sea – I LOVE this color of blue and have a TON of it in my wardrobe – although in the winter Almond Buff would be a close second for me. I don’t love how my complexion mixes with grays & whites AT ALL! – so Quiet Gray and Tofu are pretty absent from my closet. How about you? Would you agree with Pantone that these 5 are classic colors in your wardrobe that transcend the seasons?
So, HOW do they decide on the COLOR OF THE YEAR?
Watch these SUPER short videos. First one shows off ultra violet in all its glory and refers to the reasons Pantone chose the color. The second video was put out by Pantone and discusses HOW they decide on the color of the year. Crazy to think they start “watching for cues” as she says in the video 6-9 months previous to the new year. That means they don’t get much of a break. I’ve been having fun pulling some Ultra Violet into my wardrobe, makeup and home this year. Have you found yourself adding a pop of Purple?
